Checked Baggage
General free baggage allowance for baggage in the cargo hold.
Adults and children (from the age of 2):
Basic fare package: No checked baggage is permitted
Flex fare package: 1 piece of baggage up to max. 23 kg
Comfort fare package: 1 piece of baggage up to max. 32 kg
Small children (under the age of 2):
1 piece of max. 10 kg
In addition to the normal checked baggage allowance‚ a stroller or child seat can be checked-in free of charge.
Additional Baggage & Sporting Equipment
Sporting equipment is now included in all fares offered by Chair Airlines.
Whether it’s a golf bag, skis, a snowboard, a bike, or diving gear: sporting equipment is now included in the price*. This equipment, as well as any additional baggage, must still be registered at least 48 hours before departure by calling our Service Center (+41 44 577 61 00) or online via the “Manage Booking” feature.
*Please note that for logistical reasons, we are unable to transport sporting equipment on flights to and from Jerez de la Frontera.

Excess Baggage
We will transport your additional baggage for a fee of CHF 50 per flight leg. The excess baggage fee has to be paid directly at the airport by credit card. Please note that a baggage item may not exceed 32 kg.
Please note that the carriage of excess baggage is not possible on flights to and from Jerez de la Frontera due to logistical reasons.
Hand luggage
Every passenger is allowed to take a maximum of one piece of hand luggage on board. It must be securely stowed under the front seat or in the overhead bin during the flight. Hand baggage will be inspected at check-in and at the boarding gate. Hand baggage that is too large or too heavy will be transported in the hold against a fee of CHF 50 per leg.
Maximum weight: 1 piece of max. 8 kg
Maximum dimensions: 55 cm length x 40 cm width x 20 cm height
Restrictions for hand luggage and liquids
1. Liquids in containers with a maximum volume of 100 ml
You are permitted to take a total of one liter of liquids with you into the aircraft cabin. Please note however that these must be filled in individual containers of no more than 100 ml each. All liquids must be packed in a transparent‚ resealable plastic bag. Only one such plastic bag per person is permitted. This is also valid for children and infants.
1.1. News for liquids in hand baggage from Zurich
From 26 June 2026: From 26 June 2026, new liquid rules apply at Zurich Airport. Passengers starting their journey in Zurich and passing through the Security Control Building may carry liquid containers of up to 2 litres in their hand baggage.
Thanks to the new CT scanners, liquids and electronic devices can remain inside your hand baggage during the security check. A separate 1-litre plastic bag is no longer required at these screening lanes.
Please note: The previous 100 ml liquid rule may still apply for transfer passengers, certain special processes and return flights from other airports. Please check the applicable rules at your departure airport before travelling back.
Important: Double-walled bottles, such as thermos bottles, may only be taken through security at Zurich Airport when empty.
2. Medikamente und Spezialnahrung
Medikamente und Spezialnahrung wie zum Beispiel Babynahrung dürfen mit in die Flugzeugkabine genommen werden. Sie müssen die Notwendigkeit solcher Flüssigkeiten nachweisen können.
3. Duty Free-Artikel in manipulationssicheren Plastiksäcken
Die Duty Free-Artikel müssen beim Kauf zusammen mit der Kaufquittung in einen manipulationssicheren Plastiksack mit rotem Rand eingeschweisst werden. Bitte beachten Sie‚ dass nur Artikel mit Quittung vom Reisetag unter diese Regelung fallen. Für Duty Free-Artikel zählen die regulären Handgepäck-Limite (8 kg).
2. Medication and special foods
Medication and special foods such as baby food can be taken on board. You are required to demonstrate the necessity of these liquids.
3. Duty-free articles in a sealed security bag
Duty-free articles must be sealed at purchase together with the receipt in a security bag with red border. Please note that this only applies to articles with a purchase receipt from the day of travel.
Duty-free items count as part of the regular hand baggage limit (8 kg).
Musical instruments as hand baggage
Small musical instruments such as violins may be carried in the cabin on Chair Airlines flights, provided they can be safely stowed on board. The instrument counts as your regular hand baggage item and must not exceed 8 kg. The total size, meaning length + width + height, must not exceed 125 cm.
Please carry your musical instrument in a stable, preferably hard protective case. Cabin transport is only possible if there is enough space on board and if there are no safety-related or operational restrictions.
Larger musical instruments must be transported as checked baggage or, where possible, on an additional seat in the cabin.
Carriage of Batteries
Please note that special care is required when transporting batteries.
In April 2026, the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) issued new regulations regarding the use of power banks. You can find a compact summary of the latest information on lithium batteries and battery-powered devices in the Batteries Information Sheet.
Attention:
Wheelchairs with a lithium battery must not exceed 300 watts. If your device is operated with two batteries‚ each battery must not exceed 160 watts. Wet batteries are not carried for safety reasons. More information about accessible travel can be found on the page Accessible Travel.

Please proceed directly to the Lost & Found counter in the arrival hall at the respective airport and report the loss or damage. Make sure you receive a confirmation of the loss or damage before leaving the arrival.
If you do not receive any feedback from the Lost & Found office within 5 days‚ please send the documents listed in the information sheet below for further processing of your case to lostandfound@chair.ch.
